The Abbey Bike Tools preHAG will let you quickly check your derailleur hanger alignment pre-race. Press it down on the largest cog in your cassette, with no need to remove the derailleur, let it hang, and see if it's parallel to the derailleur cage.
The preHAG won't replace your Hangar Alignment Gauge Complete Tool, which is rightly celebrated for its precision and can also act as a pry bar to fix any issues, then and there. However, when time is scarce, it will either put your mind at rest or prompt you to pull out the HAG to improve your shifting ā and with it your competition chances.
